NY State Veterans Home - Solar Project - NST

National Solar Technologies is proud to announce the completion of a major NY State solar energy project that’s close to our hearts. A 1.68-megawatt solar installation at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY.

A Project Built in Phases, Designed for Impact

This project was completed in two distinct phases, each bringing the facility closer to energy independence. Phase one delivered 981 kW of clean solar power, and we’ve just wrapped up phase two, adding another 699 kW to the campus.

The project was strategically developed in two phases to accommodate budget considerations while still achieving the facility’s long-term renewable energy goals. This approach allowed the New York State Department of Health and NYS Veterans Home to build out their solar infrastructure systematically, demonstrating the significant financial and environmental benefits of solar energy at each stage.

Real Savings, Real Impact

Here’s where it gets exciting. Together, these two solar arrays will save the facility and taxpayers approximately $200,000 every year, with even greater savings as electricity costs continue to rise.

That’s not just a number on a spreadsheet. Those are real dollars that can be redirected toward caring for and supporting New York’s veterans who have given so much to our country.

Partnership That Works

This project wouldn’t have been possible without the vision and commitment of the New York State Department of Health and the NYS Veterans Home. Their dedication to both fiscal responsibility and environmental stewardship set the stage for a solar solution that will deliver benefits for decades to come.

Looking Ahead

Projects like this one remind us why we do what we do. Solar energy isn’t just about panels and kilowatts – it’s about creating lasting value for the communities and organizations we serve. When that value directly supports those who’ve served our country, it makes the work even more meaningful.

When you consider the 25+ year lifespan of these solar systems, the impact becomes even more impressive: millions of dollars saved and a significant reduction in the facility’s carbon footprint.
